It's not made with dancing in mind but some of these tracks definitely get me moving. It's contemplative and thoughtful, but also visceral and engaging when it wants to be. The textures and melodies are gorgeous and enveloping.The percussion gives you just enough to nod along with but provide enough twists and turns to keep you actively engaged while listening. It's sound art that happens to absolutely fucking bump at times. It's simply electronic music with an emphasis on beats.
The atypical rhythms make this SO much more interesting to me, and I would say this mixtape is certainly not EDM.

This is basically Wall Fuck x1000 and it's something I've been hoping he would do at some point in his career (but not really expecting.) I feel like Flume always had something like this in him and it was just beneath the surface. That said, this is my favorite Flume project by miles. If there’s two things Hottest 100 voters have been loving lately, it’s Flume and memes.

Only the supersaw and noise layers have the processing on it the reese is pretty dry. Theres three sylenth layers that I included - a reesey sub, a supersaw/main chord layer and a noise layer. Flume’s deadpan concentration at the start, the garbled saxophone, Chestbrah randomly walking in and muzzing, Toro bopping his head at the end, the fact that Shooting Stars is a meme in itself. The sound mostly comes from the large chord arrangement style that Flume uses a lot.
